Pacha’s Pajamas eBook Debuts in Support of Nature’s Rights
Innovative, urban fairy tale aims to build foundation for Nature’s Rights youth movement

OAKLAND, Calif., June 24, 2011Pacha’s Pajamas: A Story Written by Nature, part of an unprecedented edutainment platform that connects ecology and entertainment, debuted its eBook version. The children’s story, considered a hip Jungle Book for the modern age, details a city girl’s dream in which animals and plants from her new pajamas come alive to defend Mother Earth. Already garnering critical praise from leading environmental advocates and authors, the Pacha’s Pajamas eBook is the first in a series of related products in development by Oakland, Calif.-based BALANCE Edutainment, which seeks to build a strong youth movement in support of a universal Nature’s Rights initiative.

With an accompanying animated short film and music single also debuting today, Pacha’s Pajamas is a story whose time has come. The success of films like Avatar demonstrates that audiences worldwide are interested in media with an environmental message. Thousands of animals and plants around the world are facing extinction, with species currently disappearing at a rate of up to 1,000 times higher than normal—the first major die-off in 65 million years.

Van Jones, best-selling author of “The Green Collar Economy,” says, “This story about a little girl’s dream … will play a catalytic role in building our movements for change.” Vandana Shiva, adviser for the International Forum on Globalization, writes in the book’s foreword, “Pacha’s Pajamas presents unheard voices, songs and stories of nature, calling forth empathy for all beings and engaging young people in a conversation about the future.”

The Pacha’s Pajamas eBook, animated short and music single are currently available at and through This month it will be downloadable on eReaders and mobile devices in both English and Spanish. Interactive apps and illustrated audiobook are forthcoming.
