Pacha is a Foreword INDIES Book of the Year!

Team Pacha is brimming with excitement after receiving some great news this morning – Pacha’s Pajamas is a Foreword INDIES Book of the Year winner in the Augmented Reality category! We’re incredibly happy to receive this award and to be recognized as a trailblazer in the next evolution of books.

As the creators of a first-of-its-kind animated children’s book, it’s a real honor to have a spotlight o
n our vision of the future of reading. We want to make reading fun again; our books are designed to spark the imagination and inspire kids with content about creating a better world.

As an environmental children’s book, Pacha’s Pajamas: A Story Written By Nature gives nature a voice – the plants and animals are concerned about the threats to their home including global warming. Climate change is an issue that everyone can relate to yet most people, especially children, are not aware of what they can do to help.

Through Pacha’s dreams, we show children the effects of global warming, plasticpollution and other environmental issues.

We amplify this message using augmented reality, an emerging technology that helps capture the attention of children. By integrating books, technology, and a positive message, we hope that more kids will become frequent readers and young people will become leaders of change for a better world.

Part of the Foreword INDIES awards mission is to discover, review, and share some of the best independent books. This is the first year that they had a category for best Augmented Reality book, and we’re thrilled to be one of the first to receive it! There’s a huge potential for animated books to compete with digital content for children’s attention. Recognition of our efforts makes us even more excited for all our upcoming projects!

“Pacha’s Pajamas is one of the first brands to have augmented reality built into its DNA,” says  co-author of Pacha’s Pajamas, Dave Room. “It is hugely validating for Pacha’s Pajamas for the brand to be recognized as one of the first Augmented Reality Book of the Year recipients.”

Augmented Reality books are a new area but a diverse set of publishers are experimenting with the technology including Carlton Books, Penguin, and TinyMe. Merging the digital and physical worlds, augmented reality is the next frontier of books.

We can’t wait for more people – not just children – to get an animated book and fall in love with reading again.

Congratulations to all winners of the Foreword INDIES Book of the Year!
